Meet Melodye

Hi Yall! My name is Melodye Phillips. I am so thrilled that you are here and I hope and pray that this blog is a place of peace and respite from the messages of the world. You may wonder a little about me, so I thought I’d share a little about myself.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I am a candidate to become a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. In March 2017 I closed my therapy private practice to stay home with my son and work for my family pet business, Camp Canine. While I was at home, I kept my license current and continued my education in eating disorders and disordered eating. But I am excited to begin offering individual and group sessions again! I will be offering in person sessions in my office and virtual sessions for residents in the state of Texas.

From a clinical eating disorder to years of weight cycling to body image issues, I’m here to help you on your path to food freedom. As a therapist, we are not immune to the influence of diet culture and our own relationships with food and our bodies impact our work. If you are a therapist struggling, I’d love to help walk you through this part of your journey and find freedom for yourself.

A CRUCIAL part of therapy in general, especially eating disorder treatment, is the spiritual component. That spiritual component does not necessarily mean a Christian component. Maybe its because I live in the Bible belt, but for the majority of my clients, the spiritual component is a Christian component. As a LOVER of God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, it broke my heart that I could not find faith-based Christian resources to support RECOVERY and a truly healthy body image. I’ve continually seen so many Christian resources for weight loss and restriction and fatphobia that reinforce one of Satan’s greatest tools of shame in our culture.

I love writing and hope to one day publish my own book! In the meantime, I want to help you with any writing needs you may have for your mental health business. I also enjoy public speaking and would be happy to speak at your office, conference, church, or school.
